Daar er onder ons nog wel eens lieden zijn die graag naar Canada willen, maar niet aan het punten totaal voldoen voor de Skilled worker procedure, hieronder het volgende kranten artikel. Dit artikel maakt melding van enige veranderingen in het Saskatchewanese (?) eimmigratiebeleid. M.n. de beperkingen rond PNP worden hierdoor grotendeels weggenomen.

Saskatchewan immigration program opens up

January 19 2005 - The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has been opened up to help employers bring skilled workers to the province. From January 19 Saskatchewan employers and businesses have an enhanced opportunity to permanently hire qualified, foreign, skilled workers under the SINP.

"The provincial government is working hard to help Saskatchewan grow by attracting immigrants to Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for Immigration Pat Atkinson said. "Under the new rules, employers can now hire qualified immigrants for most technical, trade and professional occupations in the province."

Before today the program accepted skilled workers in 12 occupations or individual jobs where there was a demonstrated shortage. The 12 occupations covered only about 10,000 jobs in the province, or just 2% of Saskatchewan's employment market. This compares to an estimated 200,000 jobs, or 45% of the jobs market, covered by the new rules.

"Today's enhancements to the Skilled Worker category will be of particular interest to Saskatchewan business people and entrepreneurs looking to expand and increase productivity through the hiring of skilled immigrant workers," Atkinson said. "Our goal is to make the SINP responsive to the needs of employers, and let them determine what occupations they wish to recruit internationally."

This expansion of the Skilled Worker category is the latest enhancement to Saskatchewan's immigration program. Over the past several months, in collaboration with employers, industry associations and the federal government, the province expanded the program to include new categories for foreign students and health professionals.

In addition, the provincial government is currently running a pilot program with the Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA), aimed at attracting 240 long-haul truckers to our province to address labour needs in that important sector.

June 2 2005 - Canada and Saskatchewan have signed a new immigration agreement, replacing the original Canada-Saskatchewan Agreement, signed on March 16, 1998.

The Agreement delineates the roles and responsibilities of both Canada and the Province of Saskatchewan in relation to immigrants, temporary workers, students and other people who want to come to Saskatchewan under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. It also incorporates the Agreement on Provincial Nominees, signed in 2002, which allows the province to identify and nominate immigrant applicants through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

"Effective immigration is about close partnerships-not only between the federal government and the provinces or territories, but also with communities and stakeholders. The Canada-Saskatchewan Immigration Agreement is an excellent example of a partnership that works," said Joe Volpe, Canada's Minister of Citizenship and Immigration

"Continuing to expand the population, labour force, culture and economy of Saskatchewan through immigration is a priority of the Government of Saskatchewan," Pat Atkinson, Saskatchewan Minister Responsible for Immigration, said. "This new and enhanced agreement is the latest demonstration of our commitment to make Saskatchewan a destination of choice for immigrants from around the world."

Key aspects of the new Agreement are:

* Removal of the nominations cap from the SINP, allowing Saskatchewan greater flexibility to operate its immigration program and and attract more skilled workers, business people and farmers to meet the province's specific labour market and economic needs.
* Providing a framework for the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan to establish new initiatives and projects, for example agreements on foreign student employment and Enhanced Language Training.
* New provisions reflecting Saskatchewan's interest in enhancing the vitality of its French- language minority communities.
* Continued acknowledgement of the importance of family reunification
* A shared commitment to the humanitarian considerations for refugees.

"The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to renew our partnership with the federal government and local communities as we strive, together, to attract more immigrants to our province and enhance our settlement and integration services," Minister Atkinson said. "From its creation one hundred years ago, Saskatchewan has always been enriched by the cultures of people the world over. By creating a province that's welcoming and supportive of newcomers, we help ensure a prosperous, dynamic future for all Saskatchewan people."

Het is toevallig hoe sommige dingen samen vallen. Wij hebben een kennis wonen in Saskatoon en een paar weken geleden sprak ik die en zeiden ze jammer dat je visum er nog niet is want anders hadden we wel een job voor je. Nou daar was ik lekker mee dan aangezien ik er toch niets meee kon. Maar na dat gesprek ga je jezelf dan ongemerkt wat meer verdiepen in die provincie, ik tenminste wel! En nu kom jij met dit bericht. Toeval? of bestaat er niet zoiets als toeval?

Maar even concreet wat kan ik hier nu mee en als ik er meer mee zo willen hoe zou ik dit aan moeten pakken. kun jij me daar en meerdere met ons denk ik iets over uitleggen.

Wat je er mee kunt gijs is een trip naar Saskatchewan boeken, een baan zoeken met deze baan naar immigration gaan dan geven ze jou een PNP toestemming en deze doe je bij de aanvraag en dan word deze in de meeste gevallen versneld omdat het PNP al het voorwerk al gedaan heeft.

Ook heb je dan garantie op een baan als je land omdat je dat contract al op zak hebt.

Hi Cees en Noway, Bedankt voor de korte simpele en eenvoudige uitleg.
Cees mooi die vlaggen moest wel weten hoe de vlag van Saskatchewan er uitzag want de namen waren door elkaar gehusseld. maar ik ben er uit gekomen.

Gelijk even een mail gestuurd naar die kennis om een en ander even uit te zoeken voor me, wie weet.

Ja, Noway heeft hier gelijk in, maar denk er wel aan dat je als tourist helemaal geen baan mag zoeken! Zeg dus bij de douane aub dat u gewoon komt om vakantie te vieren anders mogen ze je bij de grens gewoon weer terug sturen (een beetje jokken mag best )

dacht ik toch dat ze graag eens wat aan het tekort aan verpleegkundigen wilden doen, staat er bij nurses nog altijd hetzelfde rijtje:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible under the Health Professions Category you must meet the following five criteria:

Be working on a Temporary Work Permit for a minimum of six (6) months.
Have an offer of Permanent Employment issued by a Saskatchewan Regional Health Authority, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, other health employers, or a job in an occupation regulated by Saskatchewan Health.
Be supported by the appropriate licensing body indicating the applicant has an unrestricted license to practice in the field (if applicable).
Be supported by Saskatchewan Health.
Be supported by the Regional Health Authority where the applicant is employed.

Bij het 1e criterium haken we dus al af... we gaan hier niet alles opgeven voor een tijdelijke permit zonder zekerheid dat je kan blijven - dan blijft toch alleen de 'gewone' weg via skilled worker open.

Ik zou als nurse maar eens heel goed informeren inderdaad wat de regels in Saskatchewan zijn, ik heb zelf een aantal jaren in Manitoba gewoond en daar kom je niet aan de bak, in een provincie als Alberta en BC bijv. wel.
Ik denk dat het puur aan je vakgebied ligt of je wel of niet werk kunt vinden en wel of niet voor het PNP in aanmerking kunt komen.

Succes met beslissen

Op zich horen we van verpleegkundigen in Regina dat Nico zeker werk moet kunnen vinden vanwege de tekorten, over de regels weten we op zich ook al aardig wat. Alleen had ik gedacht dat als ze de provinciale immigratie mogelijkheden uitbreiden, ze ook verpleegkundigen van buitenaf sneller binnen zouden willen halen. Maar goed, we gingen toch al van een gewone visumaanvraag als skilled worker uit, dus het maakt niet zoveel uit.

Is in Manitoba trouwens geen tekort dan?? Ik dacht dat dat vrij landelijk was en mij leek dat provincies waar bij wijze van spreken niemand naar toe wil, toch zeker die tekorten zouden hebben.

Oh ja ze hebben heel grote tekortten maar de enige manier waarop ze die opvullen is om je weer terug naar school te laten gaan en niet iedereen heeft daar zin in.
